Joe's obituary

Joseph “Joe” Kotara passed away on February 11, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and curiosity. He embraced many Buddhist traditions, which guided him to live with compassion and mindfulness.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Rachelle “Chelle” Kotara, and their two young sons, Ryder (5) and Max (1), whom he adored with all his heart. He was also a beloved brother to Elizabeth, whose bond with Joe was filled with laughter, support, and countless memories.

Joe found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—riding his motorcycle through winding roads, immersing himself in new worlds through books and video games, and continuously learning. His thirst for knowledge was matched only by his love for people.

If you knew Joe, you knew his infectious positivity and his ability to make everyone feel valued. He never missed an opportunity to share a kind word or offer encouragement, leaving an impression on everyone he met. His presence lit up a room, his laughter was contagious, and his stories always brought a smile.

Though Joe’s passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the joy he spread will continue to live on through his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever in our hearts.
