Personal note from Diane

Joe is my hero, determined to fight to the end. He never gave up and remained positive even when I knew he was so weak and tired. He had a endless passion to serve and help others. He was adventurous, driven, energetic, honest and caring, spiritual and faithful, smart and funny, teacher and friend. Proud father and papa. He loved life, the outdoors, traveling and dreamed of retiring and going back to Houghton, MI one more time. He had plans to visit all of the national parks, built a Go Kart for his grandsons, work on motorcycles and blast out classic rock music. He could fix anything. He wanted me to tell everyone that he had a happy life.
