Joseph's obituary

Joseph (Joe) Francis Idell was received by the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at his home in Pewaukee, Wisconsin at the age of 72. He was born on October 7, 1952, in Englewood, New Jersey, to George and Genevieve Idell (nee Craft).

Joe graduated from Xavier High School in New York City in 1970. His high school participation in a junior ROTC program led him to Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he attended on a naval scholarship and graduated with a degree in engineering. It was there that he met his future wife, Ruth Idell (nee Emmett) with whom he would build a life with and raise three sons, Christopher, Peter and David.

He will be remembered and missed by his wife of 51 years Ruth; sister Theresa; children Peter and David (Kimberly); grandchildren Amerin (David), Alyxxandria (Michael), Mathilda, Ciara (Nathaniel), Kadee, Genevieve, and David Kane; great-grandchildren Avenly, Iridessa, Jaxon and Olivia.

Joe is proceeded in death by his parents, George and Genevieve, his brother Stephen and his son Christopher, along with a host of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Joe was a proud, long-standing member of Garfield Baptist Church, which evolved into Spring Creek Church. As a teenager, Joe was an accomplished swimmer and a decorated Eagle Scout. He was admired for his strong work ethic and time spent in active and reserve military duty. Joe had a lifelong love of music and singing. Among his family, Joe had a notable love of buffets, especially a good Old Country Buffet. In his later years, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In honor of Joe’s life, a visitation will take place on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Spring Creek Church (N35W22000 Capitol Drive) from 10:00 am–11:00 am with a service to follow.
