In lieu of flowers

Please consider a contribution to Sickle Cell Disease Association of America.

Background

Sickle cell disease has had a profound and personal impact on our family. Although Minister Joseph Horton did not have the disease himself, he carried the sickle cell trait—a silent thread passed down through generations. He has endured the unimaginable loss of two beloved sons to this devastating illness. Yet, despite its far-reaching effects, sickle cell remains unfamiliar to many. In honoring their memory, and the struggles faced by so many others, we are committed to raising awareness of this often-overlooked condition. May greater understanding lead to greater compassion—and ultimately, a cure—for families like ours and countless more. Contribute to Sickle Cell Disease Association of America  Right arrow
