Joseph's obituary

Joseph William Davenport, 79, of Olathe, KS, passed away on November 1, 2021.  He lived with vascular dementia for the last 5 years and his family is taking comfort that he is now at peace.  He was also known as Joe, Joey and Butch.  Those who knew him throughout his entire life will tell you that he was kind, caring and always ready with a smile and a funny story to share.

Joe was born in 1942 to Euwart Davenport & Mary Rose Llorens Davenport in Chicago, IL.  He was the 2nd oldest of 8 children.  After high school, Joe served 7 years in the Navy.  He moved his family to Olathe, Kansas in 1978.  There he supported his family primarily by working in Water Treatment, traveling throughout the Midwest until his retirement in 2007.  His family in Kansas and in Chicago meant more to him than anything else in the world.  And he enjoyed traveling back to Chicago at every opportunity to spend time with his brothers, sisters, nieces & nephews.  He was known for his BBQ talents and his family gumbo recipe.  He loved cooking for family and friends.  In his retirement, he enjoyed spending his time by the lake in Lake of the Ozarks & was devoted to his puppies, Cleo & Neffi.  In his last years, he moved to Pahrump, NV to be cared for by his children.

Joe was predeceased by his father, mother and sister, Mary Rose Davenport Bell. He is survived by his brothers & sisters - Julius, Milton, Ricardo & Albert Davenport, Susan Smith & Therese Brewer; his former spouse Katherine Davenport; his children - Suzanne Tryston Mariano and Carla, Doug & Donna Davenport;  his grandchildren - Van Dartt, Stephanie Monge & Jessica Crawford; & great grandchildren - Luella & Darby Dartt, Bear Crawford, and Gadson, Revere & Archer Monge.

There will be a memorial service planned for Spring 2021.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to: https://secure.waysidewaifs.o…

or your local animal rescue, in honor of Joe's love for dogs.
