Joe's obituary

Joe Cordero, 74, of El Sobrante, CA passed away on August 12, 2020 after a 9 month battle with lung cancer. Upon his passing he was reunited in Heaven with the love of his life, Lela Cordero who passed in 2019. They were high school sweethearts, and had been together since they were 15 years old, and married since 1965. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Cordero, father, Joe Cordero, Sr., his mother, Frances Peltier, his sisters Shirley Kitchell and Kimberly Cordero, his father-in-law, Les Herring, and his mother-in-law, Clara Herring. Joe is survived by his children Lisa (Cordero) Starcher, and Stacey (Cordero) Becerra, and their spouses, Rick Starcher (Lisa), and GB Becerra (Stacey), 5 grandchildren (Julie, Jill, Anthony, Kylie, and Rickie), 10 brothers and sisters and their spouses, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Joe was the life of the party anywhere he went, telling jokes for hours to anyone who would listen. He was a fiercely loyal protector of family and friends alike. Joe had the kindest heart, and will be remembered not only for his kindness but his giving heart. He loved to travel with the love of his life, especially to Hawaii and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Joe served our country in the Army National Guard, worked from a very young age in the automotive industry in many positions ranging from apprentice mechanic up to service manager. After retirement he volunteered at Kaiser Hospital in Richmond, CA for 17 years impacting numerous lives. He loved to dance and sing Karaoke, and he put on shows as a KJ with his brother-in-law, Tom Vairetta.

No services will be held until the global pandemic has subsided.
