Joseph's obituary
Joseph "Joe" Compton, a man of immense spirit and vibrant personality, passed away on December 2, 2024. Born on September 8, 1945 in Watertown, SD. Joseph led a life full of love, laughter, and lessons taught to those he cherished.
Joe married Sharon Jacobson in 1966 while still living in Watertown, SD. They made their home in the Twin Cities in the early 70's to raise their family in Prior Lake, MN.
Joe loved being on the water and had many boats over the years, he loved Theresa's Mexican food, Margaritas, and was a fan of both country music and Pink Floyd, as his tastes were as bold and varied as his character. His love for entertainment found him enjoying TV shows like Gunsmoke, and movies like On Golden Pond. A fan of art, Terry Redlin's work held a special place in his heart as he and his wife had grown up with Terry. His passion for sports found its match in The Vikings. Locally, he found joy at Charlie's on Prior Lake and his favorite vacation spot was Florida where he relished memorable moments with Kay.
Joe is survived by his children, Joby and Lisa Compton, his grandson Jerad Compton and his brothers Roger Lekvold, Steve Compton, and Bill Lekvold. His wife, Sharon Compton and his Daughter-in-law, Stephanie Compton, predeceased him.
Joe was a PPG certified painter, a proud accomplishment of his. His love for automobiles was not hidden from anyone who knew him. He was renowned for his extensive knowledge about cars, which he generously shared, helping many over the years.
Yet, for all his accomplishments, the pride he took in his grandson's achievements outshined everything else. Joseph's legacy will live on in "Hollywood" fashion. He will be remembered for his flash and his presence by all who loved him.
Through the highs and lows, a few individuals stood out as special friends to Joseph — Kay, Jimmy, Girard, Bill S., and his brother Butch. Their contributions to Joseph's life are enormously treasured.
