Joe's obituary

Joseph "Joe" Nesser, 63, of Gahanna, Ohio, passed away on February 11, 2026. Born on November 22, 1962, in Columbus, Ohio, Joe lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, and a passion for problem-solving.

Joe was an electronics engineer by training and found great satisfaction in the quality control aspects of his work. He took pride in applying his intellect to solve complex challenges and was known for his thoughtful approach to every task he undertook during his career. He especially enjoyed training the robots in his last job before retirement.

Outside of his professional life, Joe found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep love for fishing—especially with his brothers—and cherished time spent outdoors tending to his garden. He enjoyed giving plants that he grew to his daughters for their gardens. A lifelong fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Joe rarely missed a game and could often be found cheering them on with enthusiasm. He enjoyed going to games at the Shoe with this son-in-law and grandson. He made sure his grandsons knew the proper response to “OH-“. Joe also enjoyed music and loved going to concerts at the Ohio State Fair every year with his family. His commitment to youth sports was evident through years of coaching his daughters’ soccer teams. His dedication left a lasting impression on many young athletes whose lives he touched through mentorship and encouragement.

Joe’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Beth; daughters Kati (Peter), Kori (Cory), and Kimi (Diego); and grandsons Ben, Joseph, Thomas, and Felix. He also leaves behind his brothers Mike (Krista) and Matt; sisters Sue (Denny), Julie, and Debi (Eddie); stepmother Barbara; step-brother Lee; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy; father John; brothers Daniel and David; step-sister Shari; sister-in-law Lori; nieces Sam and Molleigh; and great-nephew Landon.

Joe’s deep faith in God brought comfort to him in his final days. May he finally be at peace.

A graveside service and memorial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne, Ohio at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made to Catholic Social Services.
