Josefina Figueroa, born August 25, 1950, in El Rincón, Jalisco, was the youngest daughter of eight children to Maria Guadalupe Torres and Jose Maria Figueroa. When she was young, her family moved to Tepalcatepec, Michoacán, where they raised cattle. With no school nearby she only received one year of formal education.
