Jose's obituary

It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of José Tanaka Quezada on April 20, 2025. He left this world peacefully, surrounded by all of his children and grandchildren, just as he lived — embraced by family and love.

José was born on January 7, 1964, in Mexico to José Tanaka and Celia Tanaka Cruz Quesada. From a young age, he embodied strength and commitment, proudly serving in the Mexican forces before making the brave decision to move to the United States in search of a better life.

In July of 1988, José married Maria Sanchez. Together, they had six children: Carlos Sanchez, Martha Edge, Eato Tanaka, Myduen Livorsi, Yasohiro Tanaka, and Lee Tanaka. José’s legacy continues through his children and his 13 beloved grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

José was a man of incredible generosity, known for his willingness to give the shirt off his back or his last dollar to anyone in need — always giving without expecting anything in return. He cherished his friends, adored his family, and lived with a heart wide open to everyone around him.

He loved to travel, especially to the beautiful beaches of Mexico, a place that always felt like home to him. A gifted and passionate cook, José expressed his love through food — his kitchen was a place of laughter, delicious meals, and countless memories. His jokes, his laughter, and his incredible sense of humor were constants in the lives of his children, as was his unwavering commitment to keeping the family close.

Until his very last breath, José taught us the true meaning of family: to love one another, to stand together, and to never take a moment for granted. His life was a living example of generosity, love, and the importance of togetherness. He was deeply loved by his family and remains forever in our hearts.

We will honor his memory by living the lessons he taught us — with love, laughter, and family first.
