Your deep loss is shared by many because Jory touched so many hearts, including mine. Come back, baby, comeback -- gotcha on our wavelength!

Jory actively created, fixing his expression in mediums such as recorded music or newsprint. It is an example for those who follow and think -- without the extra step of delivering their works to eyes, ears and brains. Jory did it, today many leave this to machines. Follow Jory's example and create, whatever your medium of choice. You own your work from the moment it is fixed in a medium.

Jory was giving, especially attention. And best of all (from a purely selfish perspective) he paid attention to me, in large part because it was his passion. My work was Jory's beat. it was why he went to work at all. I write this because I worked at the time as an executive at Geffen Records and it was a time of revolution from analog to digital.Basically, Ten Days That Shook the World with Jory as Jack Reed! He was drawn to it like a moth to a flame and for the same wrong reasons, but Jory's chronicling the times made it REAL. Days of Wonder on the Sunset Strip and I remember them well.

Thinking of my dear cousin Jory, missing him, but remembering his infectious laugh, and the laughter he provoked while playing “ who would you rather be”. I miss his curious mind, his wit and charm, his teasing, his music, and his perspective. I know how proud he was of his children and my heart goes out to Zak, Josh & Hannah and to Evan and to all who loved him.

I was never hesitant about funneling a writing tip to Jory, knowing he would treat it with respect and use it to its fullest. He chronicled entertainment particularly well because his head and heart were there, fully engrossed in balancing the art and business of drawing crowds and feeding their heads and hearts.
Here's to Jory on his birthday! Gracing us with your presence was a massive gift and still much appreciated. It will live forever in his words, sentences, paragraphs and pages! Thanks, Jory, for all the memories and for giving it your all. Much appreciated, by moguls and madmen alike.

Sending my sincere condolences to Jory’s family. Jory and I started our reporting jobs at The Press-Enterprise together, and became close friends afterward. He and his then wife Janie stood with my husband and I during our marriage at city hall in Riverside, CA. As a wedding gift, they gave us a beautiful wicker picnic basket that included champagne flutes and table ware for two — which I still have, after 36 years. Jory was one of the most compassionate, creative, funny, intellectually curious people I’ve had the good fortune to know. He was a true wordsmith, whose writing and expressions could be both eloquent and humorous at the same time. I have such sweet memories of my dear friend. May his memory continue to be a blessing to all who knew and cared for him, as it is for me.

So sorry to hear of Jory's passing. When Jory wrote for the Riverside Press-Enterprise, I was his editor. He never ran out of interesting story ideas and unique ways of telling stories. His enthusiasm in covering entertainment was infectious and it showed in the stories he produced. Not to mention, he was the perfect host for his always memorable "Elvis" Poker nights. Sorry for your loss----Doug List

Jory Farr was a fine fellow in every way and I am both saddened to lose contact with him and alarmed he went without saying goodbye. I hope Jory rests in peace and that we meet again down the road. Farewell, Jory!
