Jon's obituary

Jon Thurmond passed away peacefully at home in Peculiar, MO surrounded by family on February 22nd, 2023 at the age of 67. Jon is survived by his wife Carolyn, his daughter Sara, his son Patrick (Kristin), his grandsons Connor, Corbin, and Finley as well as his sisters Vivian, Gigi, Jeanette, Sherri, and his brother George.

He was born on April 28th, 1955 in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. He graduated from Ruskin High School in 1973. While working as a manager at Long John Silvers he met Carolyn Moore and they fell in love. Within two years they married in 1979. They have two children, Patrick and Sara.

He spent his life doing a number of different things, finally settling on being an antique and toy dealer that occasionally dabbled in furniture. He always liked the saying “you can’t take it with you when you die”, but he certainly tried.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, February 26th from 2pm to 4pm. It will be held at the Lumber Co Event Space in Peculiar, MO. All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be sent to Cure PSP (https://www.psp.org) or KC Hospice House (https://www.kchospice.org/)
