Jonathan's obituary
Jonathan Scott Salvi of Manchester, New Hampshire, also known by those who loved him as "Bongo," passed away in his sleep on Sunday June 2 at the age of 45.
Jon was born and raised in Randolph, Massachusetts alongside his two older brothers Mike and Chris. He had a passion for four things:
1. People
2. Sports
3. Movies
4. Talking To People About Sports and Movies
Jon never met a stranger. Whether it was making a Steak & Cheese at D’Angelo’s or the best omelets in the world at Trim Dining Hall at Babson College (according to his dad Charles), Jon always found a way to connect with others.
He was quick to strike up conversations, always had a smile on his face, and truly took the time to build relationships with others. Jon was famous for “checking in” with everyone in his life. Nobody more than his two nieces (Addison and Lauren) and his two nephews (Ben and Theo). Whether it was tossing a football or playing video games with them at Thanksgiving, or a quick facetime call, Jon was present.
Bongo was a talented writer and wrote for many publications in his life. He loved playing fantasy football, baseball, and was often in dozens of leagues. He was really looking forward to seeing the Celtics raise another banner this season (which they did), and always loved a great Duke vs. UNC matchup…Go Duke!
He built several houses in his twenties for Habitat for Humanity. Jon had a good jump shot, a great memory, and a kind soul.
Jon is survived by his parents, Charles and Pamela Salvi.; his brothers Mike and Chris and their wives Shaye and Mandy; his nieces Addison and Lauren; his nephews Ben and Theo; his Aunt Sandy and Uncle Al; and his cousins Dean, Rose, Scott, Hope, Jeff, and Emily, Eliana & Jacob.
We are planning a Celebration of Life for Jon on July 13 at new Horizons Church (290 Darrow Rd. Akron OH 44305) with his family/friends in Ohio and again around his birthday for friends and family in New England. In lieu of flowers or donations, please honor Jon’s life by “checking in” with an old friend. It’s what Jon did and who he was.
We love you Bongo and will miss you.
