Jonathan's obituary
It is with profound grief that we announce the passing of Jonathan "Jon" Lopez, beloved father, friend, and mentor. Born on August 5, 1958, Jon went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2024. His spirit was as unique as the path he walked, and he will be deeply missed.
Jon leaves to cherish his memory of three beautiful daughters: Vanessa Perez, Alexandria Lopez, and Samantha Lopez. His love for them knew no bounds, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments. Their memories of their father will forever be etched in their hearts.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Jon's life will be held at Cowboy Junction Church on July 19, 2024, at 5:30 PM. This will be followed by a dinner reception at 6:30 PM at 4604 N Lovington Hwy. Friends and family are invited to attend and share their memories of Jon.
Jon's professional life was dedicated to Hobbs Municipal Schools, where he started working in 2017. His diligent work ethic and dedication to serving others left a lasting impact on those he worked with.
Jon had an eclectic array of favorites, from his love for tacos, beans, spam, and BBQ, to his choice of drink of Diet Coke and Arizona Arnold Palmer's. He was passionate about Classic Rock, old westerns, and old school horror and sci-fi movies. He cheered for the Los Angeles Rams and Lakers and enjoyed games of Yahtzee, Scrabble, and Phase 10. Jon’s hobbies were just as diverse, spanning from golfing, watching YouTube videos about Big Foot and Sasquatch, blasting the music in his headphones, to cooking for friends and family.
Known for his robust walks all around town, Jon enjoyed walking to some of his favorite places in Hobbs. His favorite vacation spot was visiting family in California, where he would soak up the sunshine and catch up with loved ones.
A man of sharp wit and intellect, Jon was known for his honesty and toughness. A hard worker and clever individual, he taught others to enjoy life to the fullest and instilled confidence within them. His greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful father to his daughters and a reliable friend to many. His legacy of service will resonate with all who knew him.
Jon Lopez lived a full life, one that touched many others. Today, we remember him for the love he shared and the lives he uplifted. His friends and family will greatly miss him.
