It’s that time of year again. A rough 5 days. The unknown date it happened between the date he was found. I have to say this year is actually easier than last, which is good. I spent this past year focusing on myself and my mental and physical health, I quit drinking, joined AA (for the third time 😉) 6 months sober now,  and I’m in a better spot now. I miss my father so dang much and I think about him and want to call him for so many things. I love to hear stories about him from others… that man touched every life he came in contact with in a great way.  I never know how to end these things but for now I will end with a quote

“There is no expiration date on the love between a father and his child.”

- Jennifer Williamson

Please, if you ever want to talk about him or share a story, reach out 281.203.2791 I will always make time!

We will be doing a celebration of life for my dad the weekend of August 7/8 2021.

You can find me on Facebook, Nextdoor or also text me 281.203.2791 if you are interested in joining us. It will be in Spring, something simple, just as the simple man he was. ❤️♥️

Thank you all for keeping his memory alive

Today my heart is heavy. I know why. And it confirms my suspension on the “when”. I knew it would be hard but I didn’t know it would be this hard. I freaking miss you. I don’t have anything inspirational to say or any cliche line about you watching over me. . I wish you were here. Plain and simple.
You’d be very proud of how I fought through the 2020 and where I am now and where I plan to go. The kids are kicking ass and are happy and striving.
I wish you were here to see them. I wish my daughters got a chance to meet you. Ok I gotta stop now but I promise to talk to you more and start actually dealing with the fact you’re gone. I love you

Jon,
Those who knew you think of you often, as do I. We think of you often and remember you always. I know you are at peace and without any pain or suffering. We all miss you, but will see you again when the time comes. I miss our talks. In the meantime, I know you are looking over and watching out for family and those you love. Stay at peace.

Loss and grief vary with each individual. We each must find our way through it. The Ruggerio family misses you, Jon. Give our sweet Morris one of your bear hugs, okay?

Jon, I believe that you are celebrating your 56th birthday today among the angels. I also believe that you have found peace and joy there. You are truly missed here on this earth, but your compassion and goodness swirls around all who knew and loved you, dear friend. ~ Stanley Ruggerio and sons Michael and Chris
I'm so sorry to hear of Jon's passing. I may have been his first girlfriend when we were both 14, in Houston. We rode around in his souped up Nova! My parents weren't too sure about him, but he was good to me. He found me on facebook a year or so ago and we chatted a few times. He last reached out to say Hello March 9th. I pray for his soul to be at peace.

I remember those sweet Easters at your Mom and Dad's house. It always tripped me out how much David, Jon & y'all's Dad sounded identical & resembled each other SOOO much!!!! I know your parents are loving on Jon now up in Heaven. So very sorry for this loss & sending hugs and prayers that way. - Tisha, Missy's Lil Sis.
I grew up at Colonial Estates in Sharpstown and whenever I think of my childhood, the neighborhood kids, Jon Vanover is the name that always comes to mind first. I remember us all hanging out in the street between our two apartments. There were always large groups but Jon...he was the one to watch. He was a beautiful person, inside and out. Jon and the Vanover's played a roll in shaping my childhood. With his passing, the neighborhood will never be the same.
My love and condolences to the family.
John was such a kind, big hearted man! He loved the Lord....we had that in common! I am so sad to know that he is gone, but happy that he is with the Lord in heaven, and I will see him again!
Stanley Ruggerio ~ During the past 4 years, Jon became my friend as well as my landscape expert. He was so kind and caring during my late husband's many illnesses. Our discussions often touched on dealing with grief and depression. We always promised each other to stay positive and embrace hope. Even though I am 76 years old, Jon's texts to me would often begin with "Hey, young lady...." Shortly before his passing, we texted about the fact that he was not feeling well and experiencing allergies. My last text to Jon said "Be well. God bless. The Ruggerios send you their best." My heart is heavy, but I know that my sweet friend is resting in the arms of comforting angels.

When we were young, I had such a crush on Jon, but I wasn’t suppose to because he was my cousin. As kids I loved out vacation to Houston. We played, wrestling, swimming. I can even remember those apartments on Westheimer. When they came to visit us we would play hide in seek in the woods and barn. softball and a lot more that. Jon RIP, you are free. You were loved and you will be missed. ❤️

I am so sorry to hear of Jon’s passing. The care and concern he took not only for the work he did, but also for those he did the work for was unrivaled. I am so sorry for your loss and will be thinking and praying for those closest to him.
