I'm so sorry for your loss. Jon was very kind and always willing to meet regardless of how big or small an opportunity was. He was a talented teacher, amazing partner, and a wonderful person.
I was shocked when I heard the news of Jon's passing. Jon has been the oracle of commerce for those who have spent enough time in this ecosystem. Jon was always kind, passionate, neutral and generous - he always made everyone feel respectful and heard ! More recently we had many conversations on strategic programs and he always came up with a unique POV. I will always remember Jon and he values relationships heavily! May he rest in peace and my sincere condolences for his family.

I’ve had the privilege of knowing Jon for more than 20 years and being a co-worker for the past 10. In those 10 years, Outlook tells me that Jon and I had more than 500 conversations and untold numbers of meetings.

I’ll always remember a moment 10 years ago when he and I were working on content for a stressful meeting the next day. We were taking a break to have a drink at the hotel bar (probably in Las Vegas) and ended up inventing an extra slide, quite literally on the back of a cocktail napkin. The meeting went well, and versions of that slide spread far and wide throughout our company.

Since then, I’ve sat in meetings with Jon hundreds of times where that slide pops up. I’ve even seen the chairman of our company present it to huge audiences a decade later. Every time, I’d give a knowing glance to Jon, and we’d try to keep a straight face. It was a small, shared moment I always enjoyed with him.

I’m so fortunate to have had Jon as a part of my life. I know how proud he was of his family; I could always sense the love when he’d share a moment about his life with Lynda. Thank you for sharing him with all of us.

A life too short, but well lived!

Shared a heart Red heart

My sincerest condolences. Lynda, we have never had the opportunity to meet but any time we were in Vegas for Adobe Summit, I was always impressed and touched by how his commitments and availability during that week took you into consideration. He was a family man. I was moved by how he loved you first. Everything was important and he moved mountains to be accommodating for work but you and your daughter who he beamed with pride when he shared his updates, were his number one. Unapologetically. I’m heart broken for you. Rest in peace Jon.
To Jon's family,  I am so deeply saddened to hear this.  I worked with Jon at Publicis Sapient for over 6 years.  Friend, coach, mentor are only a few of the words I can think of to describe our relationship, and likely what Jon was to many.  He was so truly kind, and an unparalleled expert in his field that wowed every client I put him in front of.  I live just a few towns over from Burleson (Plano, TX), but I worked with him for over 4 years before we had the chance to meet in person, at one of his favorite destinations - Las Vegas.  We actually spoke recently, and we always talked of meeting at a good BBQ place somewhere between Plano and Burleson.  I'm sorry we didn't just do it.  Jon will always be a giant whom I and many others learned much from, and he will be missed dearly.  His was a life well lived, and may his memory be a blessing.
Genuine, thoughtful, kind, curious, engaging, smart, and funny are just a few words that describe JP.   A true trailblazer in the commerce space, but an even better person outside of it.  I will miss you my friend, RIP.

Jon was one of the most thoughtful and generous people in our community - a true pioneer in our space and an exceptional leader as both a board member and Chair of the MACH Alliance. He brought wisdom, humility, and real warmth to everything he did, and his contribution to our movement during such a pivotal time will not be forgotten. We are deeply saddened by his passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be greatly missed. The MACH Alliance Community
To Jon’s family: I knew John from work and he was such a kind and caring person. Please accept my deepest condolences and know that I and my family are praying for God to provide you comfort and strength.
I am, shocked to hear the news of Jon's passing. I worked with Jon for many years as co-worker at Sapient/Publicis. He was my boss for some time but never acted like one. He was more of a friend and a gentle human being. We had so many good memories together from 2006 to 2019 as we worked on number of things together. You have gone too soon, Jon. I will miss you. My condolences to the family!

Heartbreaking news. 💔😔 The outpouring of sentiments reflect the Jon I knew both professionally and personally . . . kind, thoughtful, honest, humble, sincere. A true testament to who Jon was as a person.

While Jon may never have held his dream job as GM of the Pittsburgh Steelers, we are all richer for his career in commerce and getting a chance to know him in various ways. My sincerest condolences to the Panella family. Jon will truly be missed.

I’m so sorry for your loss. When I worked with Jon at Sapient, one of my favorite things was getting to see him in action with clients, and how he wowed everyone around him. He was a brilliant thinker and a lovely person.

My prayers for Jon’s family and his dear ones, may they find the strength and fortitude to deal with this blow.

Jon was an absolute institution and a go-to person for many at Sapient. For decades, he held a section of our business together: his deep expertise was matched by his helpful attitude and his willingness to jump in feet first at every request. Jon was a gentle wellspring of support for many. I miss him, it is heartbreaking not to have the ability to reach out to him any more. Gone too soon.

I’m so sad to hear this. Jon is, and has been, a true role model for many - myself included. In work, and in life. His wisdom, his person, his friendship. It will be dearly missed. I wish Jon, the close family, and friends the best.
John was an absolute legend at Sapient, he also had the distinction of being the most helpful and generous. It was always such a joy watching him bring home commerce pitches, it was always his warmth and unbeatable subject matter expertise that clients were buying. He will be missed by so many. Deepest condolences to his family. This is a truly devastating loss.
I knew Jon through the years professionally and found him to be truly one of the good guys. He was the same person everywhere and at all times...I never sensed even an ounce of artifice in his bones. He was a man of high character who will be missed for sure.  My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
I'll never forget when I had a client who needed some reassurance about our strategy and direction for their e-commerce business. Jon got up to speed and then got on an airplane to lend his support. His knowledge was unparalleled and immediately put the client at ease (and helped us sell through significantly more work). I was truly struck by his generosity as he helped me understand the nuances of the situation and then I just sat back while he showed our client what a true expert in his field looked like. I touched base with him now and then after that and he never hesitated to give me his time and support. He was highly respected with the most gentle and kind demeanor. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. He'll be missed by many I have no doubt.

I am extremely saddened by this news.  Jon was an amazing, smart and collaborative person.   When I first met Jon we were two different worlds and become close as our worlds got closer.  Content and Commerce.   I'll miss our great guessing the future of our industry chats buddy.   :(
I did not know Jon personally, but listened to him many times at B2B online. He was such an interesting speaker and had a real passion for the space. My condolences to his family, he will be missed.
