It happened again this year! Last night I took a walk and suddenly recalled those sweet words Jom said to me when he was in 3rd grade: “When I grow up I’m going to take care of you. I’m going to build you a house and give you Cheetos.” Nothing any patient, client, or student said to me in my 30-year OT career has ever touched me the way that did. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you Jom.

For some reason I was filled with thoughts & memories of Jom last night, & then received the email today that it is 1 year since his passing. The body knows…or he was reaching to say hello…or both. Such a kind & joyful child. I love the memories and am grateful for them and for his brief presence in my life.. He’s no doubt up there working on the house he wanted to build me. 🥰
I’m wishing all his friends & family much peace & joy in your own sweet memories of Jom.

I’m so sad that I won’t be able to see you anymore Jom. I’m so glad I got to spend all the time I got with you and may you happily rest. You will forever be in our hearts

Dear Josefina and Manuel, I was deeply saddened to hear of Jom's sudden passing. I remember him fondly from his visit at the Autism Center even though I officially saw him only once. He would call out to me when he was seeing other providers, saying cheekily, "I remember you." Then he would tell me about something happening in his life.
I do remember that on one visit he had just learned that swear words upset the adults around him so he would mumble swear words under his breath, then slyly look at his mother and me, then laugh, to see what we would do. Jom was quite a charming young man!
May your current sadness recede to happy memories in the years ahead. My condolences.
Sincerely,

Although we did not ever have the chance of meeting Jom, seeing the light he was to his family, friends, and many others is apparent. His personality shows in every single photo, and his smile radiates so beautifully. We are deeply saddened to hear of this loss. Sharing our greatest sympathies and condolences with the Yumul and Dacanay families.
From all your Canadian cousins, titas, and titos with great love.
