JoLynn's obituary

JoLynn “Hun” McAdams, 64, originally from San Fernando, CA. & relocated to Lees Summit, MO. in 2005, passed away in her home on 11/8/18. JoLynn ”Hun”, was born July 26th, 1954 in Girard, Ks. & was subsequently raised by her parents Joe & Ruth McAdams in San Fernando, Ca. JoLynn graduated from Sylmar High School in 1972. Shortly thereafter she began building her career, eventually landing a position with Rene Of Paris working on some of the very 1st computers. Eventually, life took her a different direction & she began dedicating her time & heart into helping take care of the aging family in her life, her late Aunt Billie, Aunt Bessie & shortly thereafter, her parents. Upon her parents passing JoLynn decided to relocate to the midwest to be nearer one of her closest cousins, Jennifer (&her family), who she was raised with as a sister in many ways. JoLynn most recently worked for Focus Healthcare Solutions taking care of the elderly and disabled. She also was a former Caremark employee.

JoLynn was known by everyone, as someone that had a huge, caring heart. She was always willing to sacrifice whatever she could, in order to help with our aging & elderly family, clients at her work, any friends & families needs & of course her fur babies. She was extremely patient, loving & kind. She loved unconditionally & she was accepting, polite & soft spoken often times. She listened with an open heart & truly displayed what unconditional love looks like. She had great faith in God & her Spiritual & Christian beliefs helped to depict the loving and thoughtful person she was.

JoLynn eventually became known to her entire family as “(lil)Hun”. She took the name after her Aunt Nina that was also called Hun. She was very close to Aunt Nina, who later became known as...and jokingly contested, “Big Hun”, once JoLynn was coined, “Lil Hun”. She also was very close to her Uncle Walt, Nina's husband, whom they called “Buster”. She loved going on fishing trips with them in her youth. JoLynn also loved spending time and camping at Carpinteria State Beach with her family. She especially was fond of the long walks with her “(Big) Hun” to go collect seashells. She loved Disneyland & would take us kid cousins there often. Mickey Mouse was her very favorite. Hun LOVED football and the KC CHIEFS, even though she was raised in Raider Country. LOL! She was always a Chiefs fan thru & thru! She was a great piano player & was very active in her church in CA. where she loved playing with her friend LouAnn. In her youth, she was very active in the Zions League youth group where she helped fundraise for the church to have a Volleyball court, which she helped install. A testament to just how helpful, giving & thoughtful of a person she was even early on. She loved dogs with all her heart. She was a dog whisperer of sorts & she'd let them climb & lick all over her. She is survived by her dog & fur baby, Buster, whom she named after her Uncle Walt. Buster now lives with a neighbor he was friends with. JoLynn was a HUGE Kenny Rogers and Elvis fan & she was also very fond of Reba, Garth, The Judds & even Bob Marley just to name a few. She also was 1 of the very best cooks & was known to make the most amazing enchiladas & Tamales in LA.... even though she was a gringo!

JoLynn, “Hun” McAdams truly was a very special person and she will be missed by so so many.

JoLynn is proceeded in death by her parents Joe & Ruth McAdams, her Aunt Nina “(big) Hun”, her Uncle Walt “Buster”, her late & close cousin Becky whom passed at 19 & her Aunt Billie & Aunt Bessie.

JoLynn never had any of her own children but she treated, loved & spoiled her closest friends and families children as if they were her own. She is survived in death and will be missed by the Bond, Fuller, Croymans and Robbins “kids”. She is also survived in death by her closest cousins & relatives, the Bond Family of Ca. & Mo. & the Fuller Family of Ca. whom she was raised with both as her immediate family. JoLynn also is survived by the Ramsey, Deering, Keyes, Sutton, Shoemaker, Lemieux & McAdams families of Mo. &. Ks.

In lieu of flowers or cards the family requests you make a loving donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of our late JoLynn /“Hun”. After losing her cousin Becky to C.F. at 19, this organization was very dear to her.

JoLynn's wishes were to be cremated. To allow the family time to grieve, as well as for family out of state to have time to plan to attend, we've decided to hold a Celebration of Life/ Memorial, with a date in January, to be announced. If you would like to be notified on details of the service, please send an email to HunLivesOn@gmail.com & please include your name and all contact info.

A poem for Hun

"Buried in the Sand"
E. Bond

Can you still see our footprints Hun?
Or is the tide washing them away?
The shells we collected in bags & buckets,
Every step we take.

We walked for hours,
Our feet and hands getting so cold.
“Dinner is prolly ready by now kids.”
“I think we better go”.

Trav has the toys and of course I grabbed the boards,
Its back to camp we go...
We really only want smores!

We would dig for hours,
With no end in sight,
Hun watching from a beach chair next to mom and Laurie,
Those were the good times,
We'd keep diggin if allowed, into the night.

We buried shells in the sand and watched the tide move in and out.
This is still a place I call home,
A place I still come to for peace,
A place I feel emotions flood in,
And A place I come to let them flow out.

She played Reggae at the beach and made amazing food...
She took all of us kids to Toys R Us every year,
Prolly even when we weren't very good.

They say when you see one set of footprints...
That you aren't really alone.
That your being carried in Love
And that your never far from home.

But I know one day I must walk along that same shore,
And place you and mom and dad ever so gently as requested,
Until the tide takes you away along with our lone footprints,
Just once more.

This place I used to dig
and cover you completely in sand,
You'd sit there for hours so patient and peaceful,
I wonder what went thru your head all those times you let me completely cover you in.

I'm so sorry you had to leave so soon,
But I know things most others don't,
Things we spoke about just the two of us,
Things I'm so glad are gone for you now.

Now that your all done on this planet,
and done with this form of “Hun” we knew so well,
It was your time to go, I accept it.
I hate it and I'm mad at it...but deep down I know your all better now.

So rest your heart and head our dear Hun...
And know your not alone...
And one day we will bury you in the sand at carp like you want
And like you used to let me...
So many years ago.
