Johnnie Mae at her 80th & Fabulous Birthday Party
I am Chaplain Debbie Thomas of Philadelphia.  Rena Childs, Johnny Mae's caregiver, my cousin, every Thursday would have Johnny Mae call into ZOOM for my Bible Study.  Bible Study could not begin until I heard Johnny Mae say good morning.  We would laugh and exchange pleasantries until she found out that I lived on Thompson Street.  We both knew a neighbor that she would visit often. I just had to see her so we could talk more about things that happened back in the day. I drove to Delaware and we three went out to lunch that lasted hours. I promised to return but life got in the way and she moved. The Bible Study came to an end but my warm feelings for this BEAUTIFUL WOMAN OF GOD can never go away. Miss Johnny Mae we will meet again when all of the Saints of God are called home. I will be looking for you and I know you will remember me your Bible Study Teacher and Friend.
I remember crossing paths some nights with Aunt Johnnie Mae at Parkview Nursing Home with her shopping cart full of goodies not just for Uncle Bill but also for his sister, my mom (Annie Mae) and anybody else who happened to be around - they would be blessed with a little something from her cart. Pure unselfish love - a gift her children have inherited as well. Be encouraged - a part of her will be with you always.
