Johnnie Mae Baker, 77 of Charlotte, died peacefully at her home on May 06, 2023 while surrounded by her family.

Johnnie Mae was born on December 18, 1945 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Johnny Bert King of Warren County, NC and Irene Kennedy Houston of Gaston County, NC.

Johnnie Mae grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina; She attended West Charlotte Senior High School, and worked in Team Management for many years with Eckerds Corp.

Johnnie Mae was known for being strong, independent and sassy. She loved spending time with her children & grandchildren, visiting family and traveling to the beach; always ready to hit the road. She was a loving mother and doting grandmother; generous with her time and kindness.

Johnnie Mae was a devoted wife, and servant of Jehovah. She dedicated her life to Jehovah in 1965 and faithfully attended several congregations in the Lakeland, FL and Charlotte, NC area. A woman of deep devotion to her faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Husband of 49 years, Clifton Thomas Baker; daughter, Jacqueline Baker and brother, Bertram King.

Johnnie Mae is survived by her children; son, Mr. Thomas Baker(Kimberly); daughter, Ms. Angela Baker, both of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Miss April Baker and Adam Thomas Baker; sister, Deloris Armstrong, all of Charlotte and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services for Mrs. Baker will be held 11:00am Thursday, May 11, 2023 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness on Miranda Road. Interment will follow the service at York Memorial Park in Charlotte.

Arrangements are in the care of Alexander Funeral Home.
