John's obituary
On April 20, 2022, Johnathan “John” Ryan Criswell died in Portland, Oregon after a sudden heart attack. Born February 2, 1992, John was residing with his father, Joe Criswell at the family home in Banks, Oregon at the time of his untimely passing.
Stunned by John’s young life ending at the age of 30, John is survived by his Dad, Joe, of Banks and brother Jim, of Portland, OR. John was preceded in death by his step-mother Carol Criswell and grandfather, Harold Criswell. John also leaves behind his step-siblings Adam, Cassidy and Neal. John’s loving extended family that grieve his loss are many aunts, uncles, cousins and his beloved grandmother, Jan Criswell. The family members include Lori Godfrey (Eric Gross), Jana Olson (Mark), Paula McMurry (Rick) Marcie Dahms (Kevin), Jim Criswell, and Erin Larsen (Jeremy); and cousins, Iris Godfrey, Zach and Emily Olson, Victoria and Elizabeth McMurry, Jordan and Jasmine Smith, Dallas Criswell, Natalie Herb and Ben Larsen.
John was born in 1992 in Auburn, WA. He graduated from Banks High School in 2010 and went on to attend Gavilan College in Gilroy, CA where he played football. John’s athletic ability was a driving force in his young life, allowing him to excel at football, basketball and baseball as well. Throughout the last decade of his young life John became an avid snowboarder and loved to tear up the mountain, which gave him great joy. John will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his love of being outdoors hiking with his family and friends.
There will be a private event held on Saturday, April 30, 2022. If you would like to make a donation in John’s memory you may make a contribution to the Harold Criswell Memorial Scholarship held at the Banks High School Alumni Foundation.
