My deepest condolences to John's family. It's hard to find the words when you have hundreds of great memories with someone like John. We've been friends since high school. Our "group" was practically inseparable in high school and our 20s. I remember us doing homework together, hanging out laying around a room talking about the future and when we graduated high school. John standing on Liane's bed and arranging the glow in the dark stars into constellations because he was so incredibly intelligent and restless and couldn't just sit there and talk. Haha. He was always full of comical "useless facts" and pranks and sarcasm. We partied and laughed and went through a lot of growth and change all together. I didn't see him as much these past 10 years as I wish I had. But when I did see him at Garrett's or Joey's he always had the most wonderful bear hugs and huge smiles! When my daughter was born premature, John was one of the very first to contact me and tell me he would donate blood for her. Just tell him when. He had the biggest, most caring heart a person could have. He will be greatly missed. ❤

We are so sorry for the families loss. He was a true friend through high-school and after. John was always there for anyone and everyone that needed help. His shenanigans never never left anyone not laughing or smiling. He will be truly missed.
Sincerely
Hidalgo Rangel and family

We are so, so, very sorry to learn of this tragedy. Our heartfelt condolences go to the Wetzel family, John's parents, his siblings, his wife and children, and his friends. We enjoyed living life as neighbors with the entire Wetzel family while living in Montverde when John was in high school. Yes, we agree, "John was a generous and hard working man. He would give anyone the shirt off of his back... John was talented, gifted, intelligent, hardworking, downright hilarious, and one of a kind. He could fix anything, build anything, and design some of the most incredible projects. John touched the lives of so many..." We will keep you all in our prayers. Bill and Maria Warren.

I have so many awesome and funny memories involving John, Garrett, and Brad. Beside the story involving a euro dirtbike in a bed of cactuses the next funniest story I have with John involves his white Ford pick up truck from high school. One day pulling into John‘s driveway he decided he was going to unlock the front bench seat in his truck and then slam on the brakes. Once John did this the seat flew forward and Garrett hit both of his knees on the glove box. Of course John and I are shorter so we were not affected. John was laughing so hard he had tears in his eyes. Even though Garrett was upset for a little bit he eventually started laughing as well. John was full of mischievous funny behavior and we were always at the butt end of it. I also sat with him many times in his dad‘s yard while he fixed the sprinkler system, John could fix anything. I remember when my parents got a letter in the mail from the homeowners association; the letter was because John, Garrett, and I we’re riding the bikes through the trails that were intended for horses, apparently it was too noisy for the neighbors (but that didn’t stop us). We had so much fun growing up in the neighborhood as children and teenagers. I cherish all the memories I have with John and I’m thankful to have him in my life for the time I did.
