John's obituary
John Wesley Ford III, of Duluth, GA, died of natural causes on October 10, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 26, 2022, in the Fireside Room at North Metro Baptist Church, 1026 Old Peachtree Road NE, Lawrenceville, GA with Dr. Cameron Ford officiating. All family and friends are invited to attend.
Wesley was born on October 11, 1956, to the late John Wesley Ford II and Peggy Woodall Ford, in Jacksonville, FL.
He graduated from Marist High School in 1974, and obtained a degree in Psychology at LaGrange College. Upon graduating, he worked for his father at Ford Steel Company. His last job was in sales at Home Depot, where he loved interacting with his customers.
He had many interests in his life; and he especially had a remarkable love for animals. Every animal he came across was instantly taken with him, too, resulting in him having a number of pets he doted on throughout the years.
Wesley also loved sports–golf was one favorite. He attended the Masters as often as he could. He was also an avid fisherman and would remark that some of his favorite memories were his fishing trips with his Grandaddy. He was an enthusiastic football fan, especially the GA Tech Yellow Jackets. He was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of baseball and could provide statistics on just about anything he was asked about. That incredible knowledge also was evident through his love of cars and everything regarding cars.
Wesley is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Ford, his brother, Scott Ford (Fay), his sisters, Kay Jarmusch and Ashley Heffron (Jean-Michel), nephews, Scott Cameron Ford Jr (Melanie), Evan Jarmusch and Cole Heffron, and niece, Jessica Sudderth (Brian), great-nieces, Emmy Sudderth, Mollianne Ford, and Minnie Ford and great-nephews Ezra Sudderth, Asa Sudderth, Micah Sudderth, and Rhyan Ford. He also leaves behind his beloved bird, Rosco.
