John Michael "Jack" Vargo, Jr., age 79, of Pahrump passed away on February 8, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on February 27, 1946, in Joliet, Illinois, Jack was the beloved son of John M. and Albertina "Betty (Cola) Vargo Sr.
Jacks life was marked by deep devotion to his faith as a Catholic, and he found great comfort and joy in attending mass throughout his years. His spiritual commitment was a guiding force in his life and provided him with strength during both joyful and challenging times. He was a very proud over the road truck driver for Marten Transportation for 30 years joining the 2 million mile accident free club before retiring.
Family was at the heart of Jack's world. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Michelle (Roy) Draino, Mike Vargo, Andrew (Kim Hermida) Vargo, and Christina Vargo. Also through his cherished grandchildren: Timothy, Brittany, Jake and Jessica Evans; Shannon (Timothy) Arellano and Dani (Josh) Perry; Joel and Justin Niswonger; Alyssa and Maycee Vargo, numerous nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and other family members. He is also survived by his ex wife Nancy (Turner) Vargo.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, John M. and Albertina "Betty" (Cola) Vargo Sr.; his son Donnie McCrory; and his brother Paul Vargo. Their memories remained close to Jack's heart throughout his life.
A funeral mass honoring Jack's life will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Roman Catholic Church in Pahrump, Nevada.
A private celebration of life will be held later this summer. He will be laid to rest next to his parents in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois
