Sorry to see that John is no longer with us. He was a good friend that I enjoyed greatly growing up in Kingsville. I missed my chance to catch up with him. Good friends are rare.

Very sorry for your loss. I enjoyed playing 42 with him. Very kind and considerate gentleman is what I would say. Great conversations about life and family. God Bless.

I was quite shocked to learn of John’s passing … it came much too soon and still seems unreal. My heart goes out to his family - Donna, Elizabeth, Sarah, his sister and father. I met John early in my career with Texaco and knew immediately that I’d found a kindred spirit. We enjoyed traveling together to numerous software classes from Princeton, New Jersey to Seattle, Washington. On occasion our learning endeavors were eclipsed by the laughter we shared. We decided to take a road trip one weekend of a two-week software course. Wanting to see as much of Canada as we could, our return to Seattle ended late at night after which we had to do laundry for the next day's class. When we returned the rental car, the clerk read our odometer and reported we’d put 2400 miles on the vehicle. She was so amazed that she didn’t charge us to top off the fuel tank.
John’s technical skills were amazing, His nerd-like software talent and the humor of a stand-up comedian were rare in a single individual. Also, his organizational skills were second to none. He pulled off bus trips to Louisiana for horse races and threw annual product announcement parties for products he’d invented (remember the one-bit computer).
After John left Texaco, we managed to stay in touch and meet for lunch several times a year. I genuinely loved the man and shall sorely miss him.

Donna, Elizabeth & Sarah-
I am so sorry for your loss. We have wonderful memories of your family at St. Peter’s, as our kids grew up in Sunday School and Youth Choir together. Greg and I sent our deepest condolences.

I was privileged to know John through our Sunday school class. He would always lend an empathetic ear and an encouraging word to others. He demonstrated his concerns for social justice through his leadership in mission work. He guided the class in community involvement, especially in supporting the needs of people who were experiencing homelessness. He truly lived a life of service as a Matthew 25 Christian.
