John's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rev. John "Jack" Stickles, on May 19, 2025, just shy of 82 years old.

John was born on May 23, 1943 in Los Angeles, California  and attended Los Angeles High School. His academic journey took him to Chapman College where he majored in business and religious studies. His professional career began humbly as a credit collector with Sears. Through dedication, hard work, and an exceptional work ethic, he ascended the ranks and held the prestigious position of National Manager for Accounting and Processing at both the Sears Tower and Hoffman Estates, eventually retiring at age 50.

Preceded in death by his father John Stickles, his mother Ruth Esther (Smith) Stickles, and his sister Mary Ellen Siegel. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Verna Louise (Blackburn) Stickles, his daughter Sherri Esther (Stickles) Newman, his son John R. Stickles, and 5 grandchildren. His wisdom, love, and kindness will forever be etched in their hearts. John's memory and teachings will no doubt continue to guide his family for generations to come.

John's life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He is loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure. His spirit will live on in all the lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
