John's obituary

John Sralik, 89, of Sun City West, AZ, peacefully passed away on December 25, 2023 after a diagnosis of congestive heart failure.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to John Sralik Sr. and Anna Solonvich, John was a hard worker and adventurous boy, which carried on through adulthood. John was fiercely passionate about sports and his work from the start and dedicated his life to both his pursuit of success in his career and his family.

After two years at Penn State, which he won scholarships in football and wrestling, he joined the marines, and after, landed a job in sales for Action Industries.  This kickstarted a career in merchandising sales to retail chains, and then he ended up launching and thriving in his own business called JR Sales.

In 1966,  John met his wife, Patricia Wnuk and went on to have two children, Michelle Sralik-Golla and David Sralik. Although John worked long hours and traveled regionally for weeks at a time,  he was dedicated to his family providing them with exposure to experiences he didn’t have while growing up such as a nice home in Bensalem, PA, travel, vacations along the entire east coast, sporting events, and hobbies. His children went on to graduate college and pursue careers in education/health and wellness coaching in Denver, CO for Michelle and David in sales and project management for Chase Bank in PA, NJ, DE and NY.

John was a strong, compassionate and supportive father. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family.

John was involved in many activities in and outside of the home from gardening, fixing cars, playing tennis, pool, and card games. He was an active member of his church, St. Charles Borromeo, and men's clubs.

He spent his retirement in Suncity West, AZ. with his wife, Patricia. John was a volunteer for St. Vincent DePaul working hotlines and paying utility bills to those in need; he was active member of the Investment, Slovak, and Polish clubs plus put on many events at his church, Lady of Lourdes. Racketball and tennis were his favorite hobbies while there.

John is survived by Mike Sralik, his brother and leaves behind nieces, nephews, and four grandchildren: Eve, Rachel, Sam and Joshua. He’s predeceased by his sister, Irene Sralik and Maryanne Morrisey. John will be deeply missed. We’d like to extend a big thanks to his neighbors Nancy Spayed and Patrick for all their assistance to John and Pat during his physical and health decline.

A funeral service is scheduled for:

January 12th, 10:00 a.m.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.  19002 N 128th Ave. SunCity West, AZ

Followed by a Memorial at VA National Cemetery

Donations made to SVDP at the Church or St. Vincent De Paul in Surprise, AZ.
