John's obituary
John Charles Spang, passed away Thursday, October 20th, 2022, at the age of 62. He was surrounded by loved ones as his life well lived and 7-year battle with cancer came to an end. He grew up near Buffalo, NY where he met his wife, Lisa, and studied graphic design in college. Together they relocated to Atlanta, GA, where they raised their family of 5 and celebrated 36 years of marriage. In 1988, he started a successful warehouse equipment business, Rack Men Equipment Company, which was founded on his integrity, drive, and passion for design. John truly embodied their Men of Steel superhero both physically and mentally. His daughter, Erica, and son-in-law, Daniel, continue to uphold his legacy as second-generation operators.
Not only was John a dedicated businessman, but he was also a talented artist, dear friend, and loving father, brother, and husband. John Spang was a hard-working outdoorsman with a rich appreciation for nature, Native Americans, and the old west. You could say growing up playing cowboys and Indians influenced his appreciation for their artwork and culture beyond adolescence and into adulthood. He enjoyed swimming, leather tooling, and teaching. John was a faithful and spiritual man who believed in honesty and helping others. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, and their three children, Karinna, Ethan, and Erica Spang. He also is survived by his three brothers, Mark, Mike, and Chuck Spang, and their extended families. The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 19th at Hillside United Methodist Church in Woodstock, GA with an 11AM service in the chapel followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. All are welcome to join as we celebrate the life of John Spang.
