It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Henry Skeffington, fondly known as Jacq, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and a proud Islander of nearly 50 years.

Known as the Peaceful Warrior to some caregivers, Jacq’s challenging, albeit brief battle with metastatic melanoma cancer ended with Jacq’s election of Medical Aid in Dying (MAID). He passed away at home on March 10th, 2025, surrounded by family, at the age of 73, …

Most destinations on Vashon are typically no more than 20 minutes from each other.

FAUNTLEROY/VASHON FERRY
Travel to Vashon Island via the "Fauntleroy- Vashon" ferry route. Roughly 15 minute ferry ride.

This is the ferry from the West Seattle to the North end of Vashon Island. The Washington State Ferry system is notorious for being unpredictable at best. We highly recommend catching a ferry several hours prior to any event. This is especially important in the summer months as well as on the weekends. Double check your travel dates, direction or travel and ferry times.

Travel to Vashon Island via the "Point Defiance-Tahlequah" ferry. Roughly 15 minute ferry ride.

This ferry from the Tacoma area to the South end of Vashon Island runs roughly every hour. We highly recommend catching a ferry several hours prior to any event on Vashon Island. This is especially important in the summer month when there is more tourism on Vashon Island. Please double check your travel dates, direction of travel and ferry times.

SOUTHWORTH/VASHON FERRY

Travel to Vashon Island via the "Southworth-Vashon" ferry route. Roughly 15 minute ferry ride.

This ferry is from the Olympic Peninsula to the North end of Vashon Island. We recommend most attendees look at the ferry routes from either the Tacoma side "Point Defiance" or the Seattle side "Fauntleroy", unless you are already traveling in from the Olympic Peninsula.
