Two memories “About Bob” that have never escaped me. The first one was in the 1970s. I was learning how to ride my bike for the first time without training wheels or help from anyone. I launched down our front driveway on to Laurel Drive. I turned right and headed towards Bob & Lynn’s house. There was a gravel road to the left of their home but I wasn’t successful navigating the turn and crashed head-first into the Skea’s laurel hedge. Bob came to help pull me out and then asked “Brakes failed huh?!” I definitely learned how to use my brakes after that! 🚲
In/about 1981, I was playing soccer out on Laurel Drive. The soccer ball scooted towards the Skea’s front yard. I remember that Bob had just seeded his front lawn, so I tried to tip-toe over it to retrieve my ball. ⚽️ Unfortunately Bob saw this and as I picked up my ball, he kicked me in the ass wearing his rugged leather boots and ran like hell! 🏃♂️ I’m confident that I ran 100m in about 9.58 seconds, but had no witnesses to verify my self-proclaimed World Record! ⏱️
RIP Bob! Will see you on the other side. And maybe put a fence around your lawn. 😜
