John Angus Shea, 91 of Newton, MA died Friday February 13th, 2026. He was the beloved

husband of the late Sherna Ray Katz. He is survived by his two sons from a previous

marriage, Christopher of Tiverton, RI and Jonathan and his wife Monica from Jacksonville,

FL and his sister Jean Gregory of Burlington, MA., and five grandchildren. He is

predeceased by his daughter Jessica, and son Anthony.

He graduated from Watertown High School in 1952 and enlisted in the US Air Force during

the Korean War. He graduated from Suffolk University cum laude in 1959 with a B.A. in

Public Administration and later earned his M.S. Degree from UMASS Boston. He served for

30 years with the Massachusetts Welfare Department. A private graveside burial service

will be held on a later date. He will be buried next to his beloved wife of 34 years, Sherna. In

lieu of flowers, donations to his memory may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital, 300

Longwood ave. Boston, MA 02115.
