John “Matt” Rylee, Sr. (68), aka The Ole Great Cool One, lost his final battle with cancer and passed away on January 17, 2024, at his home in Ponchatoula. Despite spending the last 30 years battling multiple illness and disability, Matt never lost his sense of humor. Throughout his entire life he cracked jokes constantly and would even pull lighthearted pranks on his family and friends. He never met a stranger and had a unique ability to make others laugh and smile. His humor (although not always appropriate) will be greatly missed.

Matt is survived by his children John (Erica) Rylee, Jr., Katie (Katelyn) Rylee,  and Zachariah Keating; Grandchildren Austin, Evan, and Millicent. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Jr. and Millicent Rylee, his siblings Chuck, Allison and Britt Rylee.

Upon Matt’s request, there will not be any formal services held.
