JOHN's obituary
John R. Huffman, 61 went to be with our Lord Monday, January 23, 2023, at Houston Methodist Hospital Sugar Land. He was a lifelong resident of Texas having been born in Jefferson Co., TX on October 30, 1961, to Robert Huffman and Joanne Saucier Huffman. John played football at Port Neches High School in TX. John was an avid football fan, especially of the Cowboys. John was a devout Catholic by faith, receiving his Last Rites while in the hospital. Anyone who knew John would agree that one of his most endearing qualities was that he never met a stranger and had “the gift of gab”. He could also be very opinionated, and he did not mince his words. It was not in his character to not keep his word. If John could not give you the shirt off his back, he would find someone who could. He enjoyed cooking but got the most pleasure in life from spending time with his sizeable family, keeping in touch with those that lived nearby or talking on the phone almost daily with those that lived further away. John thoroughly enjoyed all his roles in life as son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was a big teddy bear of a man that gave the best hugs.
John moved to Houston in the early 1980’s where he began working as a mechanic in a garage. He later met Shirley Jaudon, a native of Greenville, MS, that made Houston her home upon completion of her master's degree from Ole Miss. They married on July 30, 1982, in Harris Co, TX. They were married for 35 years before she preceded him in death on July 9, 2018. Other family members that preceded him in death include his parents, and siblings: Donald Eugene Huffman; sister Gay Fontenot; Sister-in-law Lola DuBose Huard, to name a few.
Survivors include John’s only son, John Patrick Huffman, his daughter-in-law, Araceli Ramos Huffman and his only grandchild, Liliana Luna Huffman, all of Sugar Land, TX; all of his siblings: Nola Huffman; Robert "Bobby" Huard; Tommy Huard; and several nieces and nephews including Crystal Thomas and several in-laws.
It was John’s final wish that his and his wife’s ashes to be placed in the same urn, together for eternity.
