ohn August Wilhelm Richter, my father. After complications from surgery for a bowel obstruction, and a stay at hospice, has passed. He was 94.

He was born in Halle, Germany and graduated from the University of Munich and the University of Innsbruck. He was a naval officer and worked for the USAF intelligence division during the cold war with Soviet-bloc Hungary.

He became a US citizen in 1952, and enjoyed a career in sales and marketing in the plastics industry. In 1961 he married my mother, Mary Jane Hughey, who he met on vacation in Bermuda.

He was an enthusiastic traveler all of his life. Visiting Europe frequently for business and pleasure. After retirement he continued to visit exotic locations, Antarctica, Saycial islands, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Kenya.

He was a loving father, and I will greatly miss him.
