John's obituary
John was born April 13, 1950, To Harold and Mildred Loper Rice. John attended Mediapolis Schools.
John married Paula Steele in 1968. They had three children, Johnnie (Carl) Thomson, Michael (Suzanne) Rice, Heidi Orton. Paula and John were later divorced.
John married Lynn Rice March 23rd, 2002. Together they raised Joshua Richardson, Destiny Richardson, Owen (Meghan) Richardson. John and Lynn lived happily together until his passing.
John loved farming and worked as an industrial painter before retiring.
He loved to hunt, fish, and go for long drives.
John was a deacon and very active member of his church, Sharon, Reformed Presbyterian. John was known as “The Cookie Man” during Vacation Bible School.
John loved to spend time with his family, he had 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He will be missed greatly by all of them, as well as his brothers, Daryl (DeeDee), Dennis (Loretta), Daniel, David; his sisters Sandra (Ronnie) and Rose Hicks.
John was preceded in death by his father Harold, mother Mildred, brother Bob, and sister Hazell.
A Celebration of Life will take place on November 16 at 1 p.m. at Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun, IA.
