Hi Nancy & family. Your tribute was enjoyable and so very moving.  We loved it and salute all of you. Jack was a special friend for almost 70 years, going back to CC, then to IU & those little green homes, and to reunions. Rita always felt Jack had the best disposition and sense of humor of all my friends. I noted the tribute about his hole in one, and was quite impressed that he used a 3 wood for 201 yds. Not sure my 3 wood ever went that far. Should mention that our high school and college Saturday golf rounds at Foster Park included Jack, Bruce Lauer, Pat Bartholomy, and myself, and Pat died a few days ago, making me the only one still living. But we had many, many good times together. I’m blessed to have had Jack a life long friend.

Jack in his 50th year relaxing by the pool in New Jersey.

When he lived in Marion, Jack taught all the Byanski boys how to light a charcoal grill using gasoline.

Jack: “If you don’t have charcoal lighter fluid, you improvise – god damit”. “First you load up a nice heave cone shape of charcoal briquettes into the Weber grill. Then, you douse it generously with gas. You step back about 15 feet and get a running start. As you swiftly pass by the grill, you throw a lighted match at it.”

However as we see it now – looking back - the downside of this inspirational engineering technique is that the very moment the developed gas fumes are ignited, they explode.

We clearly recall that the grill lifted off the ground like an Apollo Moon Rocket sending unlighted charcoal in all directions – a literal volcano of briquettes. I recall that we hadburned chicken and hot dogs.

Sending prayers of comfort from your family in New Jersey.
Our heartfelt condolences to Nancy and the Reece family. Jack was warm hearted and friendly to all, and although our path crossed infrequently we have many fond memories talking over dinner or watching an Eagles game.  Loved the photos posted here as they show Jack as the bright, warm and loving person he was.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you!Love, Jamie, Kyoko & Anna
