I only was roommates with John for the school year of 86/87, but in those 9 months he taught me many things. How to use a P38, that the 12 pack of Rainier pounders at Safeway was the best value, that bootlegs of the Grateful Dead will grow on you until you really enjoy them. The forest firefighters method of getting four days out of one pair of underwear (inside out and reversed), how to make “chili-Mac” out of Kraft dinner and Nalleys. That it’s important to “test the brakes” when you have passengers in the bed of your pickup. That Life of Brian can never be watched too many times. Rest in peace John and thanks for the fun memories.

John had a way with words. Curtis and Jenny coined a term, "Randallisms". These are sayings that John made up and borrowed as his commentqry on life. Our hope is that besides stories, people will share their memories of some of the Randallisms they heard from John.
Everyone from John's dorm Caswell Hall will recognize many of the borrowed terms John used from Monte Python and Spinal Tap. Some of these terms include "You lucky lucky bastard", "Who are you calling big nose?" "He's a bloody killer!" "Care for a thin mint wafer sir?" ond of course, "This one goes to eleven!"
I also want to share one I saw John invent on the spot and use for years afterwards. Cindy Fay, Donny Perrody and I used to prefer a drink called a Prairie Fire. It was a shot of tequilla with a couple of drops of tobasco. The tobasco sinks straight to the bottom of the shot glass. The first time John saw this done, he held the shot glass up to the light and said, "That's not a Prairie Fire, it's a Titty Twister!" Sure enough, when viewed from the side a praire fire looks much like a breast.
Please bring the stories and bring the Randallisms to this site. It will be a great way to remember our dear friend.

The first time I met John, he hitch hiked back to Eugene. He would not be attending school. He and his dad had a falling out and John was on his own. I had become fast friends with Curtis. He shared stories about John with me. One story in particaluar was about a night that all of the dorm mates had gone on a walk about. John got seperated from the group and, while it is not a Randallism, the question, "Where's Randall" was asked a lot. That question was still asked for years later.
That story and mnay others preceded my first meeting with John. We were effectively instant friends when he landed back in Eugene. Over the years, John was my room mate at a minimum of six different addresses..
Love you buddy!
