John's obituary

John Anderson Quinn, 82, passed away on July 28, 2025, at Compassus Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama.

John was born on November 3, 1942, in Glencoe, AL to Donald Quinn, Sr. and Hazel Quinn. He graduated from Glencoe High School in 1961 and joined the U.S. Navy. He later attended Jacksonville State University, earning a degree in business in 1971.

He spent most of his career in insurance sales. After retirement, John worked part time for his son Kirk at Tcherneshoff Consulting, Inc. in Fort Payne, AL. After moving to Auburn, AL in 2021, John enjoyed working at the RTJ Golf Trail at Grand National in Opelika, AL.

John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sara Isbell Quinn; son Andy Quinn (Susan), daughters Susan Dougherty (David) and Amy Shipp (Eric Schulz), and daughter-in-law April Tcherneshoff; grandchildren Tiffany Russell (Josh), Jessica Pitts, David Pitts, Will McCurdy (Lana), Kristen Tcherneshoff (Tommi Heikkinen), DJ Dougherty, Russell Dougherty (Serennah), Casey Dougherty, and Ian Dougherty; great-grandchildren Ledger Quinn Wilson, Cooper McCurdy, Claire McCurdy, and Hanna Dougherty; sister Ann Vise; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald Quinn, Jr. and Bobby Quinn, and son Kirk Tcherneshoff.

John's faith in God and devotion to his family sustained him. He will be remembered for his passion for golf, classic cars, Western movies, and his beloved Auburn Tigers.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Auburn, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, the American Cancer Society, or any charity of your choice.
