Jim's obituary

John James Pickett

4/6/1937-11/20/2021

John was born April 6th, 1937 to his parents Arlington and Mary Pickett. John “Jim” “Pop” Pickett was a loving husband, Father, Grandfather, and brother. A proud and honorable veteran of the Marines; he loved hunting, fishing, spending his summers in Manistee and his winters in the Florida Keys, and spending time with his family and friends. He taught his children and grandchildren to appreciate and take care of the things they have, and that if they wanted something they were going to have to work for it. He was a force to be reckoned with when it came to euchre and pool and was always happy to challenge anyone to a game. John is survived by his wife of 48 years Frances Pickett, son Jeff Gyolai (Kathy), his daughters Wendy Henderson and Amy Ferranti along with eight grandchildren Cody Ferranti (Taylor), Kelsey Wroblewski (Jordan), Audrey Gyolai, Drew Henderson, Lexie Ferranti, Logan Gyolai, Grace Gyolai, and Cara Henderson, two great-grandchildren Silas Ferranti and Rowan Wroblewski and his Brothers Mike Pickett and David Pickett (Kristie). John was a kind, loving father and Pop, whose life lessons will be carried on for generations. With his faith and relationship with God, we know he is at peace in heaven with his brothers, sisters, parents, and friends.
