John Petersen, 85, of Lewisville, NC, and formerly of Remington and Fowler, IN,  passed away on May 09, 2024. He was surrounded by his family.

John was born October 1, 1938, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Jacob J. and Amelia (Miller) Petersen. He was raised and spent most of his life in the Newton and Benton County communities.

He married Mary Jane (Janie) Wade on August 29, 1964, in Cass County, IN. She survives. He considered his wife, children, and grandchildren as his greatest blessings. He was a longtime farmer in Remington, IN, a community leader and volunteer.  Some of his favorite things were spending time with family and friends, watching Purdue basketball, eating frozen custard and monitoring the phases of the moon.  We will miss his kind and gentle spirit, his  sense of humor and warm smile.

He is survived by a son, Mark (Joanie) Petersen of Pfafftown, NC and a daughter, Jennifer Petersen of Colorado Springs, CO, and five grandchildren, John Cole Petersen, Jacob Crowell Petersen, Charlie Wade Petersen, Baden Thomas Faulkner, and Arden Kari Faulkner. He has one surviving sister, Mary J. Reed of West Lafayette, IN, and was preceded in death by one brother Walter Petersen and two sisters, Catherine Reed and Martha Stevens.
