Today, I say goodbye to a friend whose impact on my life will last a lifetime. He was a man of deep passion—unwavering in his beliefs and bold in his convictions. But even more than that, he was a man of great compassion. He saw people that others overlooked, and instead of turning away, he leaned in with love, kindness, and grace.
He was genuine—authentic to the core—and as true of a friend as they come. The kind of friend who didn’t just show up, but showed love, over and over again.
I’ll miss him deeply. The conversations, the laughs, the way he lived his faith in action. But I have peace knowing he is now with the Lover of his soul. That’s the beauty of a life lived in relationship with the Lord—when we leave here, we go to Him.
Rest well, my friend.
Until we meet again.
🙏🏽❤️🙌🏾

Jack, I will forever cherish the "crazy, fun" moments I got to spend with you and your son, Joe, every time you came to visit us at the U of W-Eau Claire. One such memory involved a prank you once played on Joe and me, scaring us into thinking that we were stuck with the expensive bill at this fancy restaurant after you left through a bathroom window, went around to the front of the restaurant, and waved at us! I've told this story countless times, and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. Now, I know you had strong political convictions, a wealth of travel experience, and an incredible appetite for reading, music, and all the things that make for a well-lived life. [ I think I know where Joe got his "litigious" spirit, for sure!] But mostly when I think of you, Jack, I think of this Chicago-bred, Sean Connery-looking gentle giant who loved to laugh (at life and the IRS, in equal measure!) Thank you, Jack, for the memories. See you in the next one!

Rest in peace cousin, Jack. You were part of our life growing up. Many laughs, many stories. I will never forget your laugh at our kitchen table laughing with my mom and dad.
Thanks for the good memories🙏,
Cousin, Bob Flood

I didn’t know my cousin Jack very well, but I always looked forward to seeing him. He and my father shared a special bond, they truly cared for each other. I remember them sitting at the kitchen table, Jack telling his stories while my dad offered his advice. I also remember how much I liked Jack’s wife. After their honeymoon in Mexico, they stopped by to visit, he had colorful stories to share, and she was so gentle and beautiful.
