I was privileged to know Mr. Monroe throughout my life. He was a family friend, first. He became my high school technology education teacher and mentor. As a senior at Old Dominion, Mr. Monroe served as my Student Teaching Supervisor. Throughout my entire life experience with Mr. Monroe, he was one of my biggest cheerleaders and supporters! We kept in touch through the years and an impromptu meeting in a parking lot or store turned into catch up session! He attended my wedding, sent Christmas cards and a baby gift when Emily was born. He ALWAYS asked about my life, my family and my future. He is the driving force behind my decision to become a technology education teacher. He allowed me to grow in his class and encouraged me through academics and relationships with other teachers and my peers. John Monroe will FOREVER be one of my heros and I will continue to strive everyday in my classes to share what I learned from him-kindness, compassion and a sense of humor. He was the kindest, happiest and most genuine gentleman. Fly high, Mr. Monroe. We will love you forever! Thank you for all you did to make our world a better place.
