Big John's obituary

In Loving Memory of John Theodore McGuire II.

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of John T. McGuire II. He departed from this world on June 11, 2023 in Clovis, CA, age 71, leaving behind a void that can never be filled. John was born on November 4, 1951 in Oakland, CA to John T McGuire Sr of Berkeley, California and Winifred Muller McGuire from Staten Island, NY.

John grew up in Oakland, CA attending Fremont High School where he enjoyed being a member of the crew team. After high school he joined the Navy and was stationed at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM as a jet mechanic where he met his first wife, Diane Kimball, and had three children (Sean McGuire, Dawn McGuire, and John T. McGuire III). John later returned to California and spent his time in the Bay Area and finally landing in the Fresno area. John married Sindi Uribe on July 4, 2007 in Reno, NV.

John spent most of his working life working as a mechanic on heavy machinery, logistics specialist for an IT company, and working in pump manufacturing at Grundfos Manufacturing in Clovis. John always had a love for motorcycles and was a member of numerous clubs and organizations over the years such as, China Post #1 Dragon Riders Fresno, the American Legion, GWRRA and Valley Riders. He was also an Honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi music fraternity and volunteered with the Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band. John loved to be around people and helping in any way he could. He was affectionately known as “Big John” and was known for the hugs he would give. His sarcasm was unmatched and he could make light of almost any situation. He enjoyed camping, the outdoors, and preparing for everything and anything.

John was preceded in death by his parents John and Winifred McGuire and son John T. McGuire III. John will be deeply missed and his memory will forever be cherished by his wife Sindi Uribe McGuire; Children Sean McGuire and wife Jessica, Dawn McGuire, stepson Bryan Raya; Grandchildren Joseph Hogue, Taylor McGuire, Diego, Niko, Mateo and Amelie Chavez, John T. McGuire IV, and Harper McGuire; and many extended family members. He will also be remembered by his many friends and acquaintances, whose lives he touched with his warmth and compassion.

A memorial service will be held at Clovis Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The graveside service will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella at 11:30 a.m. The procession will depart at 9:30 a.m. from Clovis Funeral Chapel. The family would like to thank Clovis Funeral Chapel and all our friends and family for their love and support during this time.
