John Matthew Wells, born February 7, 1965 in Anniston, Alabama passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 in Alexandria, AL. He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Whitaker; four grandchildren: Gage Birchfield, Riley Birchfield, Josephine Maraman, Jesse Maraman; three brothers: Randy Wells, Mike Wells and Steve Wells (Kathy); and by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

Mr. Wells is preceded in death by his daughter, Meaghan Wells Maraman; and his parents, Ralph and Mary Wells. There will be a graveside service Friday, October 10, 2025 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at United Fellowship Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Greg Jones.

John graduated from Alexandria High School and went on to be the prior owner of John Wells Backhoe Service. He was an avid Alabama football fan and loved to talk about Paul “Bear” Bryant. He collected baseball cards as a boy and enjoyed hunting. He loved many things in life including horses and thrift store shopping. Although there were many things he loved, above all he loved his daughters. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
