John's obituary
John, 39 went home to heaven on April 14th, 2022. John was a decorated veteran who served and protected our country.
John was born on February 13th, 1983 in San Antonio, Texas to his parents Linda and Beau Mata. When he was just 19, John decided he wanted to join the Army and was stationed at the Fort Hood Army Base in Killeen, Texas. John would go on to serve in the Afghanistan War, and the Iraq War.
After serving , John came back home to Texas, where he obtained a Business Administration degree from Texas State University. For the last 7 years, John has enjoyed working for the Texas Army National Guard. When he wasn’t working, John had a passion for all things that include being on the water and outdoors. John loved to surf and paddle board, as well as doing all the outdoor activities and walking his two dogs, Atlas and Homer.
John was preceded in death by Aunt Heather Garcia, Great Uncle Manual Garcia, Grandmother Estelle Garcia, Uncle Tino Mata, and Grandfather Luis Mata. He is survived by His Mother and Father, Linda and Beau Mata. Sister, Lindsay Mata and Family, Grandfather Jose Garcia.
