Personal note from Steve & Carol Marlin

John Mark was John & Dorothy's first born, the oldest of six siblings. He was gifted in many ways, but music was his primary passion throughout his life. His mother, Dorothy, was very musical and naturally gifted in playing the piano by ear, so Mark was exposed to beautiful music from a young age. He began studying the piano when very young and went on to hone his skill on the piano and organ after early classical training then launched out into the world, developing to play in every musical genre. He played in restaurants, Bay Area jazz bands, and accompanying soloists. He had perfect pitch and could play virtually any piece after hearing it just one time. The last decades of his life were dedicated to playing for the glory of God in worship services and accompanying church choirs. We miss the lovely atmosphere that was found in any location when he played and look forward to hearing him make music when we meet again. He passed from this life to the next peacefully following a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
