Barry's obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of John "Barry" Love, known affectionately to most as Barry. Born on February 23, 1951, in San Diego, CA, Barry was welcomed into heavenly peace on June 3, 2024.

Barry is survived by his, daughter, Megan Love (Nathaniel), and cherished granddaughters, Fern Love and Olivia Richardson. They remember him as a pillar of love, strength, and endless dad jokes.

Barry devoted 20 years of his life to military service, beginning his aviation career in 1971 with the United States Navy as a fighter pilot. He then transitioned to the commercial aviation industry, working for Value Jet, AirTran, and Southwest Airlines from 1995 until his retirement at the age of 65. He was known by all he flew with for his Star Wars announcements that made his passengers laugh and feel at ease.

A lover of life's simple pleasures, Barry enjoyed dining on Mexican food and sushi, a good margarita, and tacky tourist shirts. In his leisure time, he could often be found watching episodes of "Big Bang Theory", immersing himself in the majestic sounds of Yanni, or rooting for the Tennessee Volunteers.

Above all, his favorite pastime was spending quality time with his grandkids and his many pets. He deeply loved all animals and his kindness and his generosity was shown through his efforts to promote their welfare.

Fly West Barry. We will see you again soon.
