John's obituary

John Monfort LaFavor, 90, of Glenwood, GA, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022, at The Oaks Bethany of Vidalia. He was born October 8, 1932, to the late George and Mildred Monfort LaFavor and served in the Military Police Corps in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. Mr. LaFavor was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church and worked for ten years in the garment industry, twelve years for Federal Pacific, and retired after sixteen years with the Georgia Correctional Industry. He loved fishing and spending time with his family.

Mr. LaFavor is survived by his two children: Karen L. Grimes of Glenwood and Keith LaFavor of Glenwood; grandchildren: Chris Mitchell of Glenwood, Brooke (Kevin) Stapleton of Wrightsville, Hali LaFavor, and Macy LaFavor; sister: Wynette Andrews of Summerville, SC; great-grandchildren: Gage Mitchell, Cole Mitchell, Callie Mitchell, Sawyer Stapleton, Slate Stapleton, Blayne Stapleton, Mason Powell, and Blys Stapleton; several nieces nephews; and two special dogs: Lilly and Mia. He was preceded in death by his wife Durrell Palmer LaFavor; his parents: George and Mildred LaFavor; sisters: Estelle Newton, Rachel Horne, Melba Guin; and brothers: J.W. LaFavor and Willie LaFavor.

The family will be receiving friends at Towns Funeral Home Tuesday night from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, at Glenwood United Methodist Church with interment following in the Glenwood City Cemetery.

Towns Funeral Home of Alamo is in charge of arrangements.
