First of all teleworking has people like me out of the loop to some degree and it was awful to learn of Sylvia’s passing. I know she battled so hard and was a super person.

I knew John for many years and then a little less so as he got into the contractor arena and then saw each other and caught up on occasion usually in the bowling alley on base (Offutt). Our friendship began when we were adult leaders in our local area Weather Explorer Post #999. After a few years helping, we double-handedly kept Weather Explorer Post #999 alive for many more years together. Dozens of teenagers curious about the weather were in our program, most for multiple years. He cared so much about the kids, we couldn’t let the Post end when the other adult leaders moved on or away leaving just John and I. We had weekly meetings and year-end trips when we took a bunch of teens (usually around 10) to Norman OK, hotbed of meteorology to visit many locations like SPC and NWS forecast offices. It wasn’t just John and I, Sylvia was right there with us to provide the law and order! She was great, and John and I did our best to behave like adult chaperones also. We knew the kids had a fun time and thus the trips were super successful. He was a great guy and I just wanted to mention this little chapter of his and Sylvia’s life for you in case some are unaware. I miss them both greatly and my heart goes out to Kyle (I always got updates about Kyle whenever I saw John post-The Post), his stepchildren, and their whole family.

I’m so saddened to hear of John’s passing, and I wish to express my condolences on behalf of myself and my family. I knew John well back when we worked in the Tropical section of Air Force Global Weather Central, and our families visited each other on occasion. John and Sylvia were two of my favorite people, and the world is a sadder and less kind place without them.
Besides working together, John and I bowled together in the Martin Bomber building downstairs from where we worked. He also gave me guitar lessons, and since I had no musical talent whatsoever our sessions would usually just end up with him jamming like crazy while I watched and listened with total admiration. John was very intelligent and good at everything he did. His laugh was contagious and his humor was always so enjoyable. Sylvia was a wonderful mother, wife, and person, and I will always remember how we’d sit and talk for as long as possible about our kids and spouses whenever I ordered food from the bowling alley kitchen where she worked for many years.
Now they will have eternity together, and their endless love for each other and their family will always be so inspirational. Rest in peace, John, and thank you for being an amazing friend and person.

I am extremely sorry to hear about John. I worked with him at Offutt both active duty and our post military careers. I remember John would always greet people with smile and he never had an ill word towards anyone. But at the same time you could guarantee he would give you the unvarnished truth.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of MSgt (Ret) John Kramer’s passing. I worked for MSgt Kramer as a young SSgt while assigned to AFWA’s METSAT Applications/Tropical Branch during 2002-2003. MSgt Kramer was an outstanding leader and mentor who cared deeply about the mission as well as for everyone who worked for him in his section. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. My prayers and condolences go out to his family.

I remember John as the Senior Enlisted advisor in the Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA), working in satellite analysis. We tracked hurricanes for the National Hurricane Center and Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC). John took his job seriously, but he also loved doing it a realized that he was making a difference. He was easy to work with, and I feel like wwe got along well. He will be missed alot by his collleagues.

Oh where to begin my friend! John and I met at the base as fellow weather folks but also birds of a feather in so many, MANY respects. His Wife Sylvia became just as fast a friend, because like them I had spent many years in the UK. Not as many as Sylvia of course but it was home and a subject of so many stories. From the "good ship" McDonald's outside RAF Alconbury, to so many other commonalities.

John was every bit the story teller that I am to this day and Sylvia even got a laugh out of this "silly yank" doing a fair spin at her native british accent. From the wars we fought, to our health battles, to the good times had when we both worked (post retirement) for Raytheon; John was a steadfast friend. He will be sincerely missed but I take comfort in knowing he is with his best friend Sylvia.

Fair Skies to you both my friends. I'll be sure to play Thunderstruck by AC/DC to my friend John "MetalGod" Kramer on your day.

I’ve missed our talks since mum passed, I know your in a better place, just really sucks not being able to see or talk to you anymore. Even though you were my stepdad you will always be my dad, my one and only dad, you stepped up to the plate when my real dad has never been there for me. I will always cherish you for giving me that gift, I love you dad and I will miss you like crazy
I think for me the most fun I ever had with John was when we would just talk music or weather or aviation together. Our conversations were never forced and were always very natural. I think if John and I grew up together we would've been good buddies. He was a hell of a man.
In response to "What was the most fun you ever had with John?"
John,

You welcomed me into your home back in 2012 with open arms as your son in law. From day one I had the utmost respect for you the way you welcomed me into your life. We had many similar passions such as weather, aviation, models, music, building, etc etc.

I can't believe that you have left us so soon but at the same time I'm happy that you're no longer in pain. Go be with your beautiful wife Sylvia, she's waiting for you. I love you Dad.

I have added a link to Sylvias memorial page as well.
