Father Ford celebrated a mass for John today. He spoke of the dedication of Olympic athletes. I recall the steadfastness John had to all that he was to which he dedicated himself. It is a joy to be an Aunt/Cioci .

Although I never met John I felt I knew him through his incredible mother Dr. Appel who loved him deeply. I have cried so many times (including today) since learning of his passing thinking about what a kind and pure soul was lost and the terrible pain his wonderful mother, brother, father, family and friends are enduring. I pray the beautiful memories you have of John bring some comfort.

The first time I met John Kozak was at a Crossroads for Christ chapter meeting in New Britain CT and I didn't get a chance to spend time with him and get to know him well. But when I heard that he passed away in August last year, I was shocked, speechless and emotionally upset and I don't know how he died and I still don't know. But I do know that he's a in a better place known as Heaven and I vividly remember there was a memorial party in honor of him and during the party event, I noticed one of the members was getting emotionally upset and I comforted her and I said to her, "Lauren, I know how you feel and I feel your pain as well." And I even emotionally lost it as well. And whenever I pray my daily rosary, I remember these words, "May all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace." And I'll mention his name. And his memorial day is coming up in 2 more months and I here's how I'm going to remember him by praying the rosary in memory of his soul. And every year on November 2nd is All Souls Day as a way of remembering those who died like John. So that's what I'll be doing this year in November. So to his family members like his mom and dad, my deepest condolences.

Happy 25th birthday to sweet John. Last weekend my husband Peter and I were able to visit the Bascilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. My husband obtained a plenary indulgence for John by attending mass, going to confession, praying for Pope Francis, and praying a devout rosary while at the site and doing this specifically for John.
We send our love to John on his 25th birthday and ask him to pray for all of us here who miss him and wish for his intercessory prayers.
